Founded in 1640, discovers came from Lynn, Mass., and landed at Conscience Point ("For conscience sake, we are on dry land," a woman was reputed to have said). The original 1-room schoolhouse remains today, yet it was later enlarged, and is now the home of the North Sea Community Association.
