Remsenburg

Remsenburg, a charming Hamptons hamlet located in the town of Southampton, is a secluded and exclusive area that was formerly known as Speonk. In honor of a prominent resident named Charles Remsen, who donated a new Presbyterian Church, the community pressed to change its name to Remsenburg. Today, both names are still in use, with each name covering different areas of the community. The area close to the bay is known as Remsenburg, while the more pastoral inland area is still called Speonk.

In Remsenburg, life moves at a more relaxed pace, and there are no stop lights. The area is home to some of the early homes of Remsenburg and Speonk, many of which have survived to this day. A leisurely bike tour is an excellent way to explore these homes and appreciate the picket fences and peek between the hedgerows. The rural community of Remsenburg is located close to Moriches Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, making it perfect for boaters.
