Shinnecock Hills, a Southampton community and home to the famed Shinnecock Hills Golf Club which is the highest point on the east end and the only place on Long Island where two shores are visible.

Among other accolades for Shinnecock Hills Golf Course, built in 1891, are that it is one of the five clubs that founded the USGA, it was the first club to allow women to become members in their own right, it has the oldest clubhouse in the U.S., and its prestigious course is ranked among the best in the country.

Another unique region of Shinnecock Hills is the Indian reservation. Shinnecock Reservation encompasses 750 acres where the Shinnecock Nation, aself-governing, State-recognized Tribe, lives.
