About Wainscott

Wainscott

Blink and you might miss Wainscott, a tiny hamlet in the Village of East Hampton that was home to the last public one-room school house operating in New York until an annex was built in 2008. The hamlet itself offers an array of shopping experiences from surf shops to seafood. Ocean beaches are pristine. And the Wainscot Chapel is as picturesque as one could image for a white clapboard church overlooking fields to the water.

Facing the Atlantic Ocean to the south, Wainscott has some of the most expensive property in the world. On its west is the village of Sagaponack, New York and on the east is the village of East Hampton. Its east side faces famed Georgica Pond - an idyllic location where one could even image On Golden Pond being shot.
